CHAMPION UNVEILS HEAT RECOVERY RACK CONVEYOR OPTION
February 14, 2012
Champion® Industries, manufacturer of a full line of premier commercial ware washing systems, introduces its Heat Recovery Rack Conveyor option, compatible with Champion high-volume rack machines, for instant energy efficiency and savings.
The Heat Recovery Rack Conveyor option captures and transfers existing heat to incoming water, providing an energy efficient, sustainable, water heating process. Incoming cold water is preheated as it passes through the heat recovery coil before moving to the booster. The system does not require any additional energy source, even for systems running continuously at capacity.
The Heat Recovery option, coupled with Champion’s exclusive e-series option Dual Rinse Technology delivers an additional hot water rinse cycle for the most energy efficient rack machine in the industry. This technology is also available with optional 250 CFM fan.
Champion debuts New Food Waste Composition System
February 6, 2012
- In a effort to continue their commitment to provide sustainable and effective products to the foodservice equipment industry, Champion Industries recently introduced a complete series of food waste decomposition equipment. According to EPA Municipal Solid Waste Data in 2009, 70 billion pounds of food is wasted per year. 97% goes into landfills and the waste not only produces damaging methane gas and pick-up and hauling emissions, but also attracts pests, vermin and insects. When it comes to foodservice, food waste poses workplace safety concerns and causes expensive operational and productivity issues. Disposal is key, and Champion® Industries, manufacturer of a full line of premier commercial warewashing systems for over 100 years, is proud to introduce the EnviroPure Solution to eliminate food waste and environmental issues at the source through a sustainable and money saving system.
A hyper-accelerated food waste decomposition system that breaks down up to 800 lbs of food waste a day, EnviroPure uses physical and biological processes in a submersed environment to break down food waste into water and CO2. EnviroPure offers on-site elimination of food waste in 24 hours and produces a gray water bi-product safe for sewer disposal with no odors, sludge build-up and no system clean-outs required.
The system handles virtually any kind of food waste including: vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, poultry, dairy products, bones, shells and pits. Just like composting, EnviroPure uses natural biological decomposition processes that are accelerated through a combined action of the system itself and the use of BioMix, an all-natural, non-toxic, biodegradable additive. Food waste is then broken down into water. BioMix facilitates the biological conversion by continuously grinding all remaining materials into CO2, water and other organic materials. An insulated chamber retains heat to accelerate the breakdown.
“We really liked the fact that the EnviroPure System could handle all types of food waste and the fact that it fit easily into our operational flow,” says Roger Martin, Director of Engineering at Hyatt McCormick Place, Chicago. “We were amazed at how little compost was left after the system processed the food waste. We took about 600 lbs. of mulch out of the system after 8 months and processing almost ½ million pounds of food waste.”
Additionally, with $1 billion per year spent on disposal of food waste and $90-$200 cost per ton to dispose, operational and productivity costs are high in this sector. However, EnviroPure offers an immediate savings with consistent disposal costs and solid long-term ROI. It offers an immediate positive impact on the environment, removing food from landfills and decreased truck emissions due to fewer hauls.
The EnviroPure System is simple to operate, with a single on/off button operation. Automatic cycling and processing of food waste occurs as it is added with continue batch and feed modes. An auto shut-off timer is included for remote grinder motor and water supply and an auto-disconnect system shuts off the system should the hatch door open. Installation requires power, water and sewer hook ups. Width and height of the system can be custom varied to meet install constraints.
CHAMPION AWARDED TWO "BEST IN CLASS" AWARDS FROM FOODSERVICE EQUIPMENT & SUPPLIES MAGAZINE
October 6, 2011
Honors Bestowed By Foodservice Equipment & Supplies Magazine
WINSTON-SALEM, NC (OCTOBER 2011) Champion® Industries, manufacturer of a full line of premier commercial warewashing systems for over 100 years, is the proud recipient of the Foodservice Equipment & Supplies Magazine “Best in Class” award within the Dishwasher/Warewasher category for consultants. Additionally, Champion tied for the "Best in Class Award" in the Dishwasher/Warewasher Category for Operators. These awards are broken up into overall, dealer, consultant and operator segments.
“The fact that the consultants and operators recognized Champion through this award program is an excellent honor. They are the people that are in the field using our products every single day and this award is a wonderful testament to our line,” says Erik Nommsen, President of Champion Industries.
In order to choose, “Best in Class,” Foodservice Equipment Supplies partnered with an international research firm to ask their subscribing foodservice operators, dealers and consultants to evaluate equipment and supplies manufacturers. From there, they ranked category manufacturers on the following seven key purchase attributes: product quality, service and support, product value, availability of product information, inventory/delivery, quality sales reps, and design/appearance. Scores for these seven attributes were then aggregated to determine the Best in Class category winner for consultants and operators.

CHAMPION® UNVEILS NEW OPTIONS ON GENESIS DH-5000: NO VENT HOOD REQUIRED
(SEPTEMBER 2011) – Champion® Industries, manufacturer of a full line of premier commercial ware washing systems for over 100 years, proudly unveiled two new options on their GENESIS DH-5000, their hooded door machine that reduces cost, improves appearance, and increases performance. The DH5000 Direct Vent is a patent pending, industry exclusive, that allows the unit to vent directly to the outside removing steam and heat, not conditioned air. The DH5000 Condensate Removal works to remove heat and water vapor at the end of a cycle while recovering the normally exhausted heat and transferring it to the booster. Energy Star® Qualified, these machines decrease energy usage for utilities savings, boasting an overall savings of $5,000 per year one and $1,000 per year thereafter!
The condensate removal system eliminates steam in the room by capturing the water vapor and decreases energy usage by pre-heating the incoming water. This system uses the incoming cold water to cool and condense steam at the end of the cycle. The direct vent feature allows for the unit to vent directly outside with no vent hood purchase required, combining the versatility and simple install of Champion’s highly regarded Versa-Clean DH2000 system, with the features of a sloped hood and condensate removal. Note: Vent hood is recommended on DH5000 base model.
These GENESIS DH-5000 door machines tackle the most delicate of wares to the grimiest of pans while being completely user friendly. These machines features Champion’s patent pending Tri-Rinse System that puts more water on the dishes where it belongs, keeping the energy and water consumption at low levels. Offering two ‘Cycle Select’ cleaning options of 53racks per hour (normal operation) or 38 racks per hour (extended clean), this machine uses only .83 gallons per rack, with a rack capacity of 9 gallons.
These new door machines feature a user-friendly auto start that engages the cycle when the doors are closed. The unit will automatically fill when the power is turned on and automatically drain when the power is turned off.
Available in a multitude of configurations ranging in voltage from 208-480, a built-in booster, sized specifically for this unit, is configured for both a 40 and 70-degree rinse. The unit comes standard 3 phase, with electric 5.2 KW tank with a 7.5 KW booster, but gas heated tanks are available and it is easily field convertible to single phase.
Other standard features of the new door machines include ‘Rinse Sentry,’ ensuring the rinse temperature is always correct, as well as single point connection and signal connections for chemicals, vent fan and running signal. The controls are bottom mounted and will use digital gauges.
